The beauty of waiting: A great blessing/testimony.

Good day beautiful people,

I hope that today’s post meets you well? I also pray that God will give us all the grace to WAIT well so that we do not allow impatience to cause us to act outside of God’s will for our lives. During seasons of waiting you won’t find me skipping around waving my arms in the air saying, ‘praise The Lord for this difficult challenge of having to wait’. No, that’s just not reality in my world but reflecting on the results of previous seasons of waiting for a specific request, I do thank God for the positive outcomes which staying put has brought about in my life, such as endurance, personal development, increased spiritual maturity, and the opportunity to draw closer to Christ.

Romans 5: 3-5 ~ “We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.”

Waiting can be extremely tough and sometimes I do desire for God to hurry up and come to my aid FAST, but there’s something beautiful about waiting upon God. And today I want to encourage us to keep trusting God, and to remember that His promises never ever fail. It feels like forever since I’ve been praying for a spouse (over a decade) BUT when looking at the bible many great men and women of faith where required to wait. So don’t take the satanic express train towards a destination called ‘temporary fulfilment’! Going outside of God’s will for your life may ‘seem’ like it’s the better option at the time because it’s a ‘shortcut’ route, but the consequences are usually very painful.

Joshua 21:45 ~ “Not a single one of all the good promises the Lord had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything he had spoken came true.”

There are many reasons as to why God makes us wait, and we MUST understand that God has a GREAT purpose for our wait. Waiting enables God to test and GROW our faith. Long suffering also gives us the chance to spend more time in prayer because we realise that our power and wisdom has limits, yet God’s power is without limit.

James 1:3 ~ “For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.”

Let’s look at a biblical example through examining the life of Lazarus, a friend of Christ. His sister’s Mary and Martha sent for Jesus at the moment they realised that their brother was gravely ill, they wanted Lazarus to be healed IMMEDIATELY, but Lazarus being raised from the dead was an even greater miracle/testimony! This miracle caused many to turn to Christ and realise that Christ is the holy Son of God.

John 11:32-40 ~ “When Mary arrived and saw Jesus, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died.” When Jesus saw her weeping and saw the other people wailing with her, a deep anger welled up within him, and he was deeply troubled. “Where have you put him?” he asked them. They told him, “Lord, come and see.” Then Jesus wept. The people who were standing nearby said, “See how much he loved him!” But some said, “This man healed a blind man. Couldn’t he have kept Lazarus from dying?” Jesus was still angry as he arrived at the tomb, a cave with a stone rolled across its entrance. “Roll the stone aside,” Jesus told them. But Martha, the dead man’s sister, protested, “Lord, he has been dead for four days. The smell will be terrible.” Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?”

^^^ A lot of us may find ourselves in a place where we are telling God ‘if alone Lord’, but God is probably thinking ‘My child (honey) only if you knew about a fraction of the things I have in store for you, I LOVE YOU DEEPLY’. Sometimes God works in ways which are different to what we expect but this doesn’t mean that He is not working!

So, if God has made a promise to you just know that He is always true to His word, and that you can totally rely on the bible. The Lord will do what He says He will do! And remember that there is always a glorious purpose for the wait which God requires you to faithfully endure, and in the end God will be glorified as a result of you staying put and walking in obedience to His word. People will be blessed by your life when you live a life of total surrender to The Lord. We are all blessed because of Abraham and Sarah’s 25 year wait, they believed that God would give them a promise child in their old age, and through their lineage comes the birth of the Messiah, Jesus Christ the Saviour of the world.

Isaiah 55:11~ It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.

Keep on holding on, keep on praying.
