The Depth of God’s Riches, Wisdom, and Knowledge

God desires that the many aspects of His wisdom be displayed today through the church. Even more, New Jerusalem will bring forth the rich variety of God’s wisdom.

In these posts we are looking at a hymn written by Witness Lee, composed by Samuel A. Ward; words; music. The second verse of this hymn is:
New JerusalemHow wondrously Thou mad’st all things,
—–O who can know Thy mind?
All are of Thee, through Thee, to Thee,
—–Thy wisdom here we find.

This verse reflects the praise at the end of Romans 11. Verse 33 begins, “O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God!” Verse 36 declares, “out from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever.” (These four Bible verses are available as a song.)

God’s creation is wonderful and manifests His wisdom. Yet we must realize that creation is only the setting within which God brings forth His eternal purpose.

What God created in Genesis 1 became the old creation because the fall of Adam caused the whole creation to be judged (Rom. 8:19-22). This old creation will be replaced. The new creation began with Jesus Christ and His creating the new man during His death on the cross (Eph. 2:15). The new creation has been brought into all His believers and is growing now within us.

The development of a new creation in the fallen old creation is another manifestation of God’s wisdom. The spreading of the new creation in us is gradually shining forth and will be shown forth much more when the Lord returns. Eventually the entire old creation will be swept away and there will be a new heaven and new earth with New Jerusalem as their center to declare God’s wisdom.
