The Few People That Make the Rest of Life Manageable - A Nighttime Prayer

As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. – Proverbs 27:17 (NLT)
Please Pray:
Dear Triune God,
Tonight I am grateful that I don't have to carry every part of my story alone. You know the places in my life that are difficult to explain—the losses, the shame, the anger, the questions, and the things I wish were different. You know the parts of my story I cannot safely share with everyone. Thank You for the gift of people who can sit with the truth without trying to fix me, judge me, compare my pain, or make my story smaller. Thank You for the few people who can hear what is hard and still see who I am.
Give me wisdom to recognize these people and the bravery to let myself be known by them. Protect me from believing I must tell everyone everything in order to be understood. Help me to discern when I am sharing from a place of genuine connection and when I am simply trying to control how others see me.
When shame begins to tell me that my story has become my identity, bring me back to the truth of who I am in you. Help me to hear this truth from these few people.
Thank You for being the safest place to bring every part of my story. Tonight, let me rest knowing I am fully known by you, fully loved by You, and never required to carry my story alone. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
