WHAT WE SEE AS SIN

It all started when she held my hand the moment she heard : “It’s time for evangelism, three in a group. We should remember. .”

I wasn’t listening, I gently released my hand even though I wanted to be a little hard.
“Kilode? Ife, why did you grab my hand like that?”
“Temi, shhh. We’re gonna hangout. I’d be in your group..”
“Whoever told you evangelism means hanging out?” I asked. Although I really wanted to ask : “Whoever made evangelism compulsory for everyone?”. Then, I remembered Jesus gave us that assignment.

“Hey Temi, please just let me hold your hand. See our pastor’s wife is coming I don’t want to be in her group.”
“I hope she finds you,” I said as I walked out searching for a place to keep my bag.
I came back and found Ife grinning sheepishly, sitting and waiting.
“Everyone’s taken. It’s just both of us and Uzo.”

* * * *
We were about twenty steps from the church premises when Ife suddenly let her scarf slip from her head, and it hanged on her neck.
Uzo was behind us, engaged in a conversation so we moved on, sharing little papers.

Then I asked casually, “What’s up with your scarf?”
Ife frowned, then answered in a whisper, “Do you know there are churches where ladies don’t cover their hair?”

“Yes?”

“Is that right?”

“I can’t judge.”

“But you just asked a question about my scarf, why can’t you judge when it comes to others but make mine seem wrong?”

I smiled.

“Babe. Other ladies who go to church with their heads uncovered don’t go sneaky about it. Something becomes a sin when you make it a sin. You’ve already believed its a sin, that’s why you’re being sneaky about it. So, to you, it’s a sin. Other girls in other churches don’t believe it’s a sin, because they don’t ever go sneaky about it.
So, it’s not a sin to them, but it’s a sin to you. Do you understand? They believe their natural hair covers their heads. Others believe attachment, be it weavon or braids cover their hair. That’s why they always feel settled. Their heads stay uncovered from their houses, they take it to church uncovered, and return from church with their heads still uncovered. They don’t deceive themselves. They’re not ashamed of it. They don’t go sneaky about it. It’s either you’re for something or you’re for nothing. You can’t do two at a time.
Now, let’s talk about you. You were trained to cover your hair, growing up you felt you don’t have to cover your hair but you never came out plain. You’re indecisive. You leave your house with your head covered, you get to the street, you uncover your hair, you get to church and you cover your head again. That’s where shame comes in. It’s either you stand for something or stand for nothing. How could you be so comfortable standing on two sides? It’s just like claiming you’re fasting when it’s actually hunger strike. Who are you deceiving? God. You can’t serve two masters. One ought to give way for the other.
You may have seen people who doesn’t seem a bit righteous to you and who does things you’ve always classified as sin, but when you get to see how their spiritual lives are, you’d be wowed. They come plain, just the way they are. We’ve got different ways of reaching God. Find the way it suits you. Don’t use the method of another person. You weren’t wired or created that way. We are all vessels.
Yes, everyone of us. The only difference is the type, some are made of gold, some silver, some wood and some earth. What are you made of?
“But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour and some to dishonour. ”
“If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared for every good work.”
“Flee also useful lusts; but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a PURE heart”.
2 Tim. 2:20-22
Paul said in Romans 14:14,
I know, and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself; except that to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

I love you, God loves you more.
