Who Do You See When You Stand in Front of a Mirror?

Hi, Fam, I hope you’re all doing really good. I’m all good and excited. In my last post, I mentioned that my next post would deal with our identity which would in turn deal with jealousy in our lives. Let’s dig in!

I scrubbed the floor hard and clean, I was told it wouldn’t be clean enough if I couldn’t see my reflection on the floor. I scrubbed again, no reflection yet. I knew I’d be disciplined for giving up again, yet I left the hall. If there was someone else who could achieve cleaning a floor till it shone the way they wanted, I wouldn’t even be there. I grabbed my cleaning tools and I heard the bell for the last time today, I sighed. It was the dismissal bell, the students would be leaving for their various homes. I glanced down briefly at the floor I had just polished and I sighed again. I didn’t want to think of the outcome of the floor when the students would have walked, ran and strotted on it. I wondered why the matron asked me to clean up when it was just about twenty minutes to dismissal time.
So much for love and discipline.
I walked gingerly on the floor, like it wouldn’t be messed up in few minutes. I dumped the tools in the cleaning room and walked slowly to the Principal’s office.

I walked faster when my classmates started coming down the hall, a few were running, some walked and others held hands in twos and threes. (I’d have easily vanished if I was Merlin in the popular series, Merlin.)

They were all there when I was called out to serve a punishment for repeatedly failing a math test. Many laughed, the few who didn’t laughed stared at me, wondering if I was in my right senses,(to them, the math was like reciting ABC) and they couldn’t laugh because they were wondering. Elvis didn’t laugh though. He’s a boy in my class who never laughed when I was being laughed at. I thought he was just weird, he didn’t realize laughing at me was as normal as normal could be.

As they all walked down the hall, I kept my head low and ignored the comments and snide remarks. They were all free, I couldn’t blame them. They answer questions in class and talk intelligently. I feel God blessed them specially and left me behind probably because I said I hated my teacher because she hated me.
How are they so different and I’m this way?
How do they get everything right and I can’t even get my reflection on a stupid floor.
How am I being left behind?
I didn’t even know where I belonged in God’s book anymore. Now I’m wondering if there was even a God’s book anywhere.

The principal’s door was shut with a bold notice which contained, ‘Not Available at the moment’ hanging on the door. I sighed. Why was life so cruel? Now I have to go back, facing these kids and brace myself for the ones who would be hanging around in class.

I made a decision to keep my head low until I get to my locker to pick a few books. I hurriedly opened my locker and a very beautiful crown fell out. It was made of pink paper, diamonds and gum. It was beautiful. I saw a note from where the crown fell, (okay, more info) it contained two sentences. You are more than this. You are Royalty.

Someone was peeping into the class. Elvis! My eyes welled up.

Hi, darling.
One thing, identity.

A lot of people miss it in acting in line with their identity, with who they really are.
When you don’t know who you are and what you’ve got, it’s impossible to fight back and take what originally belongs to you.
It’s impossible to win any fight when you don’t fight with the knowledge of who you are and your place in Christ. Doubts can easily creep in when you don’t know how well you’ve been blessed and where those blessings lie.
Hello, Royalty, yes, you are Royalty, don’t be caged in the pain and wishes of where you wish you ought to be. Instead, be secured in this calling of God. I want you to enjoy this eternal life and place that God has provided for you.
It can be easy for you to fully activate this Power that we have in Christ in the place of prayer. But we can’t have any of that if we live in a misplaced identity.
Please don’t let your defenses down because you feel you have nothing to offer and thus, don’t have a place. The Bible keeps reminding us of who we are in Christ because of how stronger we get and how weaker the devil gets around us, he’s weaker because knowledge of our identity makes us frequent the throne and secret place of our Father. That way the powers of the devil are being made null and void around us. Let us not let go of the knowledge of who we are, it helps us stay stronger. No matter what circumstances might present or what you might be going through, what God had said about you in His Word still stands, God’s Word never changes, nor does it even take a break.
In the book of Ephesians, Paul prayed that our eyes be open to fully see and realize who we are in Christ.
Pray the way God sees you.
Call yourself the names God has called you in His Word, and when you go into your secret prayer place, call yourself that.
Start praying in line with how God sees you, that way, the devil would know that you know who you are. You’re telling him to flee before you come close.
Keep praying, don’t lose sight of the truth of who you are. Keep it in focus.
Stop seeing flaws, insecurities when you look at yourself, there is security in the identity found in Christ. Your difficulties, fears, imperfections, flaws are not all of you, don’t be defined by all these. All those are just a very tiny part of what God is fighting against in your life, let him. I don’t even see how any of what troubles you can stand in a battle against God. No matter what’s fighting against you, it would just be a display of God’s Power in your life when all is won.

Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are continually before me. (Isa. 49:16 ESV)

You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a
people for God’s own possession, so that you may
proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out
of darkness into His marvelous light. (1 Pet. 2:9)

We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good
works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would
walk in them. (Eph. 2:10)
