Yes, Come With the Mess

Yes, come with the mess.

“Idara, you messed up again, big time. I wonder how God even keeps bringing you back to Himself.”
Yes, I used to talk like this, even as a Christian who enjoys God’s Grace and mercy. I turn this way whenever guilt starts eating at my soul.
I start feeling underserving, unworthy and alone.

Guilt makes me wonder why God keeps picking me from the dirt, washing me clean, forgiving me and telling me, ‘go out there and represent me. You were born for this.’

Of course, I’d hold back because most times, I don’t feel like I was worth representing anyone, or God. I keep telling myself I’d done enough stupid things to last me a lifetime and if God was merciful enough to hug me back in forgiveness because of Christ’s shed blood, then that was enough for me. I don’t have to let people know you know me, I mean, “isn’t that embarrassing for you, God?”

God is merciful enough to tell me, “Let people see what I can do with broken people who give themselves to me.”
That gets to me every time, every single time. It gives me this fresh love for God and a burning desire to give Him pleasure with my life.

My name is Idara and I’m someone God saved through Christ. Daily, I cling to the saving Grace in Christ Jesus and He is the source of my strength.
