Elk on the Road: Colorado Christian Writers Conference

Once again I'd been stopped in my tracks. First my neck spasm, then the snow, and now the bull elk. None had been part of my plan when I chose to attend the Colorado Christian Writers Conference. Despite learning about this opportunity at the last minute, and the fact that my husband and I were on a road trip to Yosemite, plans came together quickly and easily. Encouraging me to go, my husband got on his computer, and within a couple of hours, arranged my lodging, rental car, and flight, all with travel points. Surely God wanted me to attend.

Never the less, unexpected interruptions would be the theme of my conference experience. After several tense minutes, the elk sauntered alongside my car, eyeing me as he passed, and I resumed my drive.  Despite my early regrets that I'd made the trip, I've come to believe I'd received all I was intended to receive, I learned a bucket-full of strategies at social media and platform building workshops from a Christian as well as a practical perspective. I met warm,, fascinating people, and heard many of their personal stories. And I received positive feedback from an acquisitions editor and two agents. I'd been postponing submitting my newly finished memoir, but no more. God, the Devil and Divorce obviously has some value.

I'm back home now, and I have no doubt it's time to work on my submissions beginning right now.

Blessings,
Linda
