“FEEL GOOD” TUNES TUESDAY: Demi Lovato’s “Warrior” Song - The DV Walking Wounded:

    ARTIST/SONG: Demi Lovato, Warrior (2013)

Released in 2013, from her fourth album, Demi, this song hits home for anyone who has endured pain that lingers, despite being out of the abusive situation. I love the comparison she makes of herself to a Phoenix, however, which gives this song such strength and is SO moving!

Billboard magazine quoted her feelings on the song, in an interview: “That song was probably the hardest and easiest song to write on the album. I was writing about personal experiences, and it’s the type of song where you can’t fit all of it into one song. But it was the easiest song at the same time because it’s something that I wanted to say.” However, she was more candid with Cosmopolitan magazine later, discussing her mental health issues she wrestled with such as bipolar disorder, self-harm (she had suicidal thoughts before age 7), and anorexia. And yet, she has overcome and has been wildly successful as a music pop star and advocate for the LGBT community, as well as champions mental health causes. She is a true queen!

How do YOU connect with this song?

    “WARRIOR”

This is a story that I have never told
I gotta get this off my chest to let it go
I need to take back the light inside you stole
    You’re a criminal
And you steal like you’re a pro’

All the pain and the truth
I wear like a battle wound
    So ashamed, so confused
    I was broken and bruised

    Now I’m a warrior
    Now I’ve got thicker skin
    I’m a warrior
I’m stronger than I’ve ever been
And my armor, is made of steel, you can’t get in
    I’m a warrior
And you can never hurt me again

Out of the ashes, I’m burning like a fire
    You can save your apologies
    You’re nothing but a liar
I’ve got shame, I’ve got scars
    But I will never show
    I’m a survivor
In more ways than you know

‘Cause all the pain and the truth
I wear like a battle wound
    So ashamed, so confused
    I’m not broken or bruised

    ‘Cause now I’m a warrior
    Now I’ve got thicker skin
    I’m a warrior
I’m stronger than I’ve ever been
And my armor, is made of steel, you can’t get in
    I’m a warrior
And you can never hurt me

    There’s a part of me I can’t get back
A little girl grew up too fast
All it took was once, I’ll never be the same

Now I’m taking back my life today
Nothing left that you can say
‘Cause you are never gonna take the blame anyway

    Now I’m a warrior
    I’ve got thicker skin
    I’m a warrior
I’m stronger than I’ve ever been
And my armor, is made of steel, you can’t get in
    I’m a warrior
And you can never hurt me again

    No-oh, ooh, yeah, yeah, yeah
You can never hurt me again

        It’s Going to Be Okay

It was one of the worst days of my life. Tragedy struck our family in the worst way and I was emotionally paralyzed. That’s when my friend, Mary, stepped in to do what I couldn’t. She made me a hotel reservation, called the necessary people, and said, “It’s going to be okay.” “It’s going to be okay” is one of the most hope-filled sentiments I can offer to others, Read more...

FOMO & The Trumpet Call of the Lamb — Nicole O'Meara

In my study of Revelation this year, I came across repeated instances of trumpets. It got me thinking about trumpets, where they appear in scripture, and why. This list of trumpet uses in scripture will relieve your FOMO of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
