How do I worship God in spirit and in truth?

Memorise: “And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost” (Lk 23:46).

Read: Matthew 6:24-34

).1 Thessalonians 5:23 says man is a trinity comprising spirit, soul and body. Of these three, the most important component is the spirit. If all is well with your spirit, all will be well with your soul and body. Proverbs 18:14 says, “The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?”

praise GodIn other words, if your spirit is buoyant and robust, even if there was an infirmity in the body, your spirit will absorb it; but if something happens to your spirit, that is the end of the story. Hence, Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:5-6 unless a man is born of the Spirit he cannot enter God’s Kingdom. Until you worship God in spirit, you have not started worshipping, because God is a Spirit. Hebrews 12:9 calls God the Father of spirits which means all His children are spirits.

The role of a spirit is extremely important in the life of a man. This was why Jesus committed His Spirit into God’s hands. That is ultimate surrender. When you hand over your spirit to someone, you have handed over everything. Once a matter is settled in the realm of the spirit, it manifests sooner or later in the physical realm. An example of this is Job’s trial in Job 1:8-19.

Most of us worry because we have not completely surrendered to Him. A summary of Matthew 6:24-34 is that you cannot have more than one God. If you claim to be a believer in Christ but you have not yet totally surrendered your spirit to the Father of spirits, then you are serving two gods – the Almighty God and yourself.

If you have only one God, you have nothing to worry about because He is more than enough to take care of you. He is the Jehovah El-shaddai – the God that is more than enough. If you do not want to inconvenience yourself while claiming to serve God, you are serving yourself. Have you truly surrendered to His Lordship?

1 Timothy 4:8 says bodily exercises have some measure of profit for us. If you fail to obtain that virtue, your body may disappoint you. Start regular 10 to 15 minutes exercise for your family.
