Genesis 32 vs 24

And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

Jacob, One Who Contends With God — Antioch Primitive Baptist Church

  1. Genesis 32 vs 24 informs us about a spiritual wrestling match.
  2. The contest was between Heaven and Jacob.
  3. The prize was a miracle from heaven.
  4. There are several lessons we can learn from the spiritual wrestling match:
  • If you want to wrestle, you need to cut off distractions. Jacob sent away his wives, sons, daughters, and servants before match time.
  • If you want to wrestle with heaven, you have to be alone with heaven. The Bible says Jacob was alone with God.
  • The best time to wrestle with heaven is the night. The Bible says Jacob was alone with heaven until daybreak.
  • You need to spend quiet time wrestling with heaven. Prayer is a serious business. Jacob must have spent six hours with the angel.
  • If you wrestle with heaven, you must say the prayers of Enough is enough. Jacob did not give up until he received a miracle.
  • If you are in the presence of God, you must not accept ‘No’ for an answer. Jacob refused to take ‘No’, even from God.
  • If you engaged in a wrestling match with God, you must say prevailing prayers. Ice cream prayer can not win you a prize from heaven.
