Prayer is a Shield

The Strongest Protection We Have

Captain America's shield.

Pray often, for prayer is a shield to the soul, a sacrifice to God and a scourge to Satan. (John Bunyan)

One clear definition of scourge is a “thing that that causes great trouble or suffering.” I like that.

An Iconic Shield

Why did I use Captain America’s shield for my meme? Well, like so many, I watched Captain America: The First Avenger, and I loved the strength of Cap’s shield. It protected him against almost anything. Prayer is like that for us. When we pray, our supernatural enemy starts having a really bad day.

I downloaded this image of Captain America’s shield from Pixabay.com

Resources:

John Bunyan, an Englishman, lived and preached in the 1600s. He wrote Pilgrim’s Progress while imprisoned for his faith. The book was so popular in his lifetime, that he became a famous author.

Editor’s note: I used Google to pull up a definition of scourge. Google uses the Oxford Languages Dictionaries for all it’s English definitions.
