Qualities of a Pastor…and fruits of the spirit

WHAT REALLY COUNTS

Memorise: “And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient” (2 Timothy 2:24)

Read: 1 Samuel 4:1-10

If you use stolen money to train your children, they are in trouble. If you use ill-gotten wealth to build a house, you are building your mortuary. Some people claim to be rich but they are very poor. I may be poor but I am rich because I have what money cannot buy.

Is your wardrobe so full of choice clothes, suits and shoes that you have difficulty choosing what to wear daily? Watch it! “And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead” (Revelation 3:1).

Of what use is a name or title -minister, pastor, area pastor, zonal pastor, provincial pastor, secretary, elder, general overseer, bishop, etc. without divine backing? Some people believe that occupying such offices make you belong. How wrong they are!

Never allow yourself to be caught in this madness. Many have their positions but Heaven has demoted them. Some have positions but occupy no heavenly position or throne. Infact, what will send many senior pastors and title crazy leaders to hell is nothing but their inordinate ambition. Your desire will not kill you in Jesus’ Name.

Wherever king Saul went, he was addressed as Your Majesty. Yet he was a heavenly reject (1 Samuel 15:1,11-14). He was an empty head – a chaff sitting on a throne. While Eli remained the High Priest in his latter days, he was without the glory that gave weight to his position (1 Samuel 4:11-22). There is nothing in earthly positions!

Stop running after them! The pursuit of positions has made many Heaven bound believers to board a hell-bound train. Do you know that there are many position and title holders in hell? If the pursuit of positions or titles sends you to hell, be rest assured that it will also be the basis to make your hell hotter.

When regular sinners in hell stumble on title or position holders in the same eternal compartment, they will vent their anger on such leaders for failing to live up to expectation, and being responsible for their doom. Ordination cannot take anyone to Heaven. If you have satisfied the requirement for ordination and you are not ordained, let it not bother you.

Stay focussed on what God has given you to do. Struggle and fight to develop the fruit of the Spirit in total. That is what really counts. That is what can take you to Heaven!
God gave the Pastor of a church a vision. He saw that of his almost 2000 congregation members, only 20 were qualified for Heaven. Are you among the select few
