The Privileged Life: Worship

WPC (21)“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.” John 4:23

When I walked into our church sanctuary this morning, I immediately realized this was my most privileged moment of the day—being able to worship Jesus Christ in total freedom. Going to church in America costs us nothing, just a little time and inconvenience…it’s completely FREE.

That’s an unimaginable privilege for some of our Christian brothers and sisters in other countries where being Jesus-followers can cost them dearly—getting ostracized, thrown in prison, or murdered…high costs indeed. Where we went to worship today without a thought of persecution, they worshipped in hiding or alone.

If you have a church home and worshipped in complete freedom this morning, consider yourself extremely blessed. If you didn’t go, seek a place to join other believers next Sunday and claim your privilege. There are evangelical churches all over the nation who will welcome you with open arms and acceptance…just as Jesus does.

And, accept the FREE gift of salvation by placing your trust in Jesus and following Him. That is truly the greatest privilege in this earthly life!

Gracious Lord, Savior of mankind, thank You for the privilege of worshipping You in spirit and in truth in our country without fear. Thank You for the incredible foresight by our nation’s founders (and the guiding of Your Holy Spirit) to make freedom of religion one of our nation’s cornerstone tenets. Help us to never take this precious liberty for granted but to exercise it with gratitude to You. In Your name, Amen.
