To have faith: It’s not If but When | HealthWealthVictory

When you believe and have faith, it is not a matter of if. It’s a matter of when. Everything is possible to one who has faith. It’s not if but when.

20 They brought the boy to him, and at once the spirit of dumbness threw the boy into convulsions, and he fell to the ground and lay writhing there, foaming at the mouth.

20 They brought the boy to him, and at once the spirit of dumbness threw the boy into convulsions, and he fell to the ground and lay writhing there, foaming at the mouth.

21 Jesus asked the father, ‘How long has this been happening to him?’ ‘From childhood,’ he said,

22 ‘and it has often thrown him into fire and into water, in order to destroy him.

23 But if you can do anything, have pity on us and help us.’

24 ‘If you can?’ retorted Jesus. ‘Everything is possible for one who has faith.’ At once the father of the boy cried out, ‘I have faith. Help my lack of faith!’

Mark 9:14-29

When, not If

‘If you can?’ retorted Jesus. ‘Everything is possible for one who has faith.’

As I grew in my relationship with the Lord, I’ve learned to change my vocabulary consciously.

It’s because I’ve read and believed what is said in Proverbs:

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat it.

Proverbs 18:21

Whatever I speak out, happens, one way or another.

The Message Bible states it very clearly:

Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit – you choose.

Why? Are we that powerful? Yes, in a way.

It’s because we are made in the image and likeness of God, our Father, who spoke the universe into existence.

Remember, in the story of creation, it said “God said let there be… and there was..”

Indeed, be careful with the words you speak, life and death are in the power of the tongue.

So when I started believing for something, I’ve learned not to say “If” when it comes to what I’m believing for. I’m careful to say “when”.

I’m speaking my dreams into existence.

When you have faith

Everything is possible to one who has faith.

It’s hard to believe that we only have to believe, to have faith in order for what we want to be possible.

I know. I once had a lot of financial struggles and stress.

When I was working as a hospital nurse, earning P15k/month or $292/month, living alone, unable to help out when my family has financial needs, it was really hard for me to believe that I could earn more, live and work at home so I could be with them, and give as much as I can to them while still having my own needs and wants being fully met.

But everything is indeed possible.

Now I’m here working as a virtual assistant at home with my family with flexible time, I’m now earning P60-80 or $1-1500k per month, and I’m able to take care of our food and much of the family expenses, especially when the pandemic hit and my sister’s husband lost his seaman job.

When you don’t have faith

To have faith and believe takes a lot of work.

At least for me, it was.

This verse above really helped me a lot in my journey towards believing:

At once the father of the boy cried out, ‘I have faith. Help my lack of faith!’ Mark 9:24

I didn’t have a lot of faith. I would always think of the negative first so that if what I hoped for will not happen, will not be disappointed.

But I heard that for things to change, I must change.

So I worked on my self.

I cried out to God to help my lack of faith and help me believe. Just like this father did.

Then I started changing my thinking.

Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts. Proverbs 4:23

I listened to Christian motivational talks or Christian songs when I’m doing laundry, taking a bath. Anytime I’m doing menial work where I don’t need to think and concentrate, I’m listening to something inspirational.

Anything can happen

When you believe. Anything can happen.

There are no ifs.

Jesus said, “If? There are no ‘ifs’ among believers. Anything can happen.” Mark 9:23 MSG

But I’m careful to believe with God and in God and not only in myself.

I’m careful that I only listen to inspirational materials that increase my love and faith in God and not in myself only.

Cause I never want to be a success in my own way and in my own strength. I want my life to display God’s glory, God’s power.

That’s the only ambition I have right now.

Yes, I’m dreaming to become a billionaire, Trillionaire even, (cause I always believe that when I shoot for the moon, if I fail, I’ll still land on the stars so when I dream to be a Tillionaire, if I fail, I’ll be billionaire, right?)

But I don’t want to be a self-made anything: millionaire, billionaire, Trillionaire, or whatever.

I want to be God-made.

Anything can happen and when they do (not if), I, as well as the people around me, I want us to be able to say “wow, look at what the Lord has done!”

I believe it will happen. It’s just a matter of when.

Now your turn

So what are you dreaming of? What are you believing God for?

There are no ifs among believers.

Believe anything can happen. Everything is possible to one who has faith.

You don’t believe yet? Or you do, but you only believe a little?

Cry out to God to help your unbelief, like the father in today’s gospel.

Then take measures to strengthen your belief. Read, listen, pray. Seek God’s promises in the bible, His Word, and believe each and every one of them.

Claim whatever you are believing for. Trust and rely on God. Tithe for it

Everything is possible to those who have faith.

Anything can happen. No ifs, no buts about it. It’s just a matter of when.
