His Power Released

“Power had gone out from Him. (Jesus)” And Luke 8:46b says, “power has gone out from me." -- Mark 5:30
The miracle of Jesus healing the sick woman who had bled for twelve years is found in three of the Gospels: Matthew 9:20-22, Mark 5:25-29, and Luke 8:43-48. And in both Mark and Luke, there is an almost identical sentence that always strikes me in a mighty way.
Mark 5:30 says, “Power had gone out from Him. (Jesus)” And Luke 8:46b says, “power has gone out from me. (Jesus speaking)”
This is fascinating. Jesus didn’t have to do anything to release His power. It left Him without a command to do so. He healed her before He turned to her. Before. He doesn’t have to say, “Yes, power, release to this woman, and to that man. But no, power, don’t release to that one.” It simply happens because His power can’t NOT release! It’s a continual flow!
All it took for her to latch on to this free power of healing was faith. Her faith is what caused her to draw near to Him. To seek Him out in the chaos. Her faith told her that if she could just touch His clothing, she would be healed. She knew, without Him even saying so, that His power was available to those who drew near Him.
Can you imagine the utter joy through this healing from her Lord? Think about the moment she knew just how much Jesus loved her the instant the bleeding left her. And, oh, what it would have been like to actually touch Jesus’ robe 2,000 years ago!
We may not be able to see Him in human form today, but through His Holy Spirit, He made a way for us to constantly draw near to Him by worshipping Him, praying to Him, and reading His Word.
And think about this, if His power left without command, think about all the more healing that happens when He turns to you because you asked! What do you need healing from today? Is it physical healing like this woman who’d bled for twelve years? Is it emotional healing from trauma in your past? Is it healing from an addiction? Whatever you are suffering from, head to Jesus. Let your faith draw you close to Him through worship, prayer, and studying the Bible, and His healing power will joyfully, and even without command, release from Him to you. That is just how much He loves you.
