Fun Bible Devotions For Kids - The Grace to Grow
When you are trying to learn how to homeschool your kids, the first thing to know is that it can be FUN. It’s also a sweet, slow, quiet time with your kids. Before I started homeschooling, I honestly hated reading to (or with) my kids. However, reading with my kids has become my favorite thing about homeschool. Especially our devotion time. Here are some of our family’s favorite fun Bible devotions for kids.

When I think of trying to instill faith in my kids, I know that I don’t want to teach them from a set of rules. I don’t want to just read them the stories by rote, drill them on memory verses, and have them answer “Jesus!” every time I ask a question about faith or the Bible.
Even from a young age, I want our kids to think of God with awe and wonder. I want them to see the beauty of creation and be struck at his majesty. I desire for them to hear those Bible stories and feel how good God is. This is my prayer.
So as I was considering family devotions, I knew I wanted them to be deep, yet fun. Beautiful, yet honest.
Not only did my husband and I love these options below, our kids did, too. Whether we were snuggled up on the couch in the morning for devotions, or gathered around the dinner table, they were (and are!) excited to get to these fun Bible devotions for kids.
… And while they might be for kids… you may find you’ll learn a thing or two as well. I know I did!

Fun Bible Devotions For Kids
Love Does for Kids
Love Does for kids by Bob Goff is an incredible book. I love his books for adults, as well. Bob Goff is the kind of guy that feels like Disney coming to life. He is a lawyer that does incredible, important work… yet he brings so much fun and light to everything he does. ESPECIALLY in the writing of this book.
He uses examples from his real life to teach kids important lessons in really fun ways. While the stories are fun, they are also poignant. Through this book, your children will be exposed to the beauty of the gospel, while simultaneously facing some of the hard things in life, head on.
Bob Goff strikes the balance of funny Bible devotions and truth so well, all the while displaying the joy of the gospel. As a bonus, his daughter is the illustrator! We loved that this book was a family project for them.
The Biggest Story
I bought this book, The Biggest Story by Kevin DeYoung, nearly a full year before we got the chance to crack it open. We had a few that we were working through already, but I was intrigued by it as soon as I saw it.
Once we started digging into it, I was blown away. What struck all of us first was the art, by Don Clark. It is so different from typical children’s books or children’s devotionals.
This book is saturated in deep colors, and the pictures are thought through and portrayed in a symbolic and theological way. As we read through this book, we would often linger over the pages, soaking in all the different elements in the illustrations.
Aside from its unique, artistic beauty, it breaks down the elaborate and complex story of the whole Bible into a concise, yet still rich, account.
It hits many of the highlights, and through each small “chapter” you see hints of God’s beautiful plan. The writer, Kevin DeYoung clearly took the responsibility of weaving the gospel carefully into each section very seriously.
What also surprised me about the book was that although the illustrations were so unique, and the book was so theologically sound, it was also funny! The contrast of humor, truth, sin, hope, and beauty was so enjoyable.
I highly recommend this book!

Bible Infographics for Kids
As far as fun Bible devotions for kids go, this one (Bible Infographics for Kids) is a winner. My kids, especially my oldest (8), LOVE facts. This book is full of facts and fun.
It has science facts, Bible facts (and shows how beautifully those things go together!), archaeological facts… pretty much everything! It even has a board game in the center of the book that our kids love.
While it’s a ton of fun, it still fills a person with awe and wonder as you take in the fine-tuning of our universe, the promises God has kept, and the odds that he continually beats. This book creates the opportunity for lots of fun Bible lessons for kids.
The Ology
This book, The Ology, has long been a favorite in our house. Before I read it, I loved it because of the clever name. But as we began reading it, I realized how that clever name was really accurate.
This book introduces children to theology in a truly clever way. In fact, for some of the bigger questions I have had about faith, this book was really helpful. The stories are broken down and illustrated in a really clear way.
This book is great for spurring conversation in a family, and is another great example of fun Bible lessons for kids. Reading The Ology is never a chore. In fact, this is the type of book that you read through during family devotions, and then read again. There’s always something new to learn.

Case for a Creator, Case for Faith, Case for Christ, Case for Grace, Case for Miracles for Kids
You know how I was talking about how I want to encourage faith in my children through awe and wonder? Well, these books are great for that.
For me, personally, when I look at apologetics, it deepens my faith and fills me with wonder. As I see my children growing up and turning into rational beings as well, I see the same thing in them. These books assure children that it is not crazy to believe in God. In fact… it’s logical.
And then as they learn what God has done, from the very beginning until now, it fills their hearts with wonder. These books are truly a gift, and are great books for family devotions.
Laugh and Learn Bible for Kids
The Laugh and Learn Bible for Kids is what we’re reading at dinner time right now. This book is by Phil Vischer, of Veggie Tales.
We’re loving this book for a few reasons.
- It is loaded with Bible stories
- The illustrations are really fun
- The language is clear, and easy to read and understand
- It acknowledges when there’s “tricky bits” in the stories. There are sidebars to help families talk through some of the challenging things that come up in Bible stories.
- It has “Talk” sections. These are ideas to help parents spur conversation in the family so that the Bible stories aren’t just heard, but also examined.
I don’t usually enjoy Children’s Bibles. Honestly, I’m not even sure I would classify this as Children’s Bible as it is done so differently than most. But, it does tell Bible stories in a fun, enlightening way, and it encourages deeper thought and conversation.
We’ve been loving it, and can’t wait to continue reading through it! This is another winner for fun Bible devotions for kids.

Fun Bible Devotions for Kids- and the whole family!
I hope this was helpful. The longer I homeschool, the more I enjoy reading with my kids… especially devotion time. Of course, you don’t need to homeschool to enjoy this time, but for me, that’s what it took for me to slow down and enjoy that time with my kids.
