Parents don’t let guilt overtake you.

Good day beautiful people,

I hope that this post meets you well? Today’s write-up is going to be very short, but I pray that the words in this post will be a blessing to you and your family. The Holy Spirit has encouraged me to use this post to uplift godly parents, and to remind them that their contribution within the kingdom of God does not go unseen by their Heavenly Father. Keep up the good work.

Many people notice a change in their prayer life post marriage and children! This is not abnormal. The Bible expresses that a married person has the responsibility of dividing their time between their relationship with God (serving God) and their spouse.

1 Corinthians 7:32-37 ~ “I want you to be free from the concerns of this life. An unmarried man can spend his time doing the Lord’s work and thinking how to please him. But a married man has to think about his earthly responsibilities and how to please his wife. His interests are divided. In the same way, a woman who is no longer married or has never been married can be devoted to the Lord and holy in body and in spirit. But a married woman has to think about her earthly responsibilities and how to please her husband. I am saying this for your benefit, not to place restrictions on you. I want you to do whatever will help you serve the Lord best, with as few distractions as possible. But if a man thinks that he’s treating his fiancée improperly and will inevitably give in to his passion, let him marry her as he wishes. It is not a sin. But if he has decided firmly not to marry and there is no urgency and he can control his passion, he does well not to marry.”

You may feel frustrated because you’re struggling to manage your time well whilst trying to keep God at the centre of your busy schedule, but don’t forget that in all things you can glorify God and this includes honouring God while getting children ready for school or bed. Don’t forget that God is omnipresent, therefore we can pray to God anytime anywhere. We don’t have to wait until we get into a church building in order to pour out our heart before the Lord. Be encouraged that God understands how you feel, He is the perfect High Priest and sympathies with you in your weakness (Hebrews 4:15).

Deuteronomy 6:6-9 ~ “And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

For some people their prayer room is their bathroom. And guess what…? This is ok. If this is the only place in your home where you can have some quiet time with God, God will still bless the time you spend in His presence.

Finally I’d like to share a true life story of a woman called Susanna Wesley the mother of Charles and John Wesley. I know that many Christian’s have heard of John and Charles who impacted millions of lives for Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit, but not many people know about their mother. Their mother raised 11 children and I can just imagine how busy her household would have been. But this did not keep her from spending time with God. She took prayer seriously! Susanna would pull her apron over her head to signal to her children and anyone else around that she was praying and not to be disturbed. So be encouraged and know that the time you spend with God no matter the distractions around you is not in vain.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 ~ “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.”

I hope you all have a glorious and prosperous week.

God bless
