The Greatest Allegory in the Bible

In Revelation 21:10 John says an angel “carried me away in spirit onto a great and high mountain and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem.” The high mountain is not a physical location but is a picture of being above every earthly and fallen environment. Here we can see New Jerusalem.

New JerusalemThe greatest allegory in the Bible is in its last two chapters, and this allegory is the ultimate consummation of the divine revelation—the New Jerusalem. Throughout the centuries the New Jerusalem has been a puzzle to all the students and teachers of the Bible. However, in the last thirty years by the Lord’s mercy, this puzzle has been brought into a fuller light. In order for us to receive a vision of the holy city, we need to be uplifted to a “high mountain” so that we may see God’s dwelling place for the fulfilling of His eternal purpose (Rev. 21:10).*

The greatest allegory shows us the Triune God wrought into His people to be one with them to bring forth New Jerusalem. Nothing could be higher than this! Nothing else would be so pure, so excellent, so magnificent! Because of its composition, New Jerusalem shines with the glory of God (Rev. 21:11).

If we have believed into Jesus Christ, we have been born again, born of the Spirit. Now we can daily ask the Lord to strengthen us into our inner man (Eph. 3:16) and to impart more of Himself into us to bring forth the manifestation of His glory (3:21) as a foretaste of New Jerusalem.
